Funeral services for Vernon Franklin "Bud" Fuller, Jr., 83, of Cushing, Texas will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas with Bro Toby Self officiating. Visitiation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, May 9, 2022 at the funeral home. Vernon "Bud" Fuller, Jr. passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Bud was born on April 6, 1939 to Vernon Franklin Fuller, Sr. and Thelma White Fuller in Mattoon, Illinois. Bud was a fierce patriot and loved America. He enlisted into the United States Army and joined the 101st Airborne where he served with honor. He was a kind man, easy-going, and fair. If you knew Bud, hearing his deep booming voice was unmistakable. He was a hard worker that did not know the word “can’t.” Bud first worked a police officer in Champaign, Illinois. Later he went to work for Orkin, Inc. where he first retired. Bud decided that retirement was not for him and started to work for the Rusk State Hospital in the Maximum-Security Unit. After working there for ten years, he finished his career with the Centurion Security company as a security guard. Bud was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign War. For his enjoyment, he spent his time singing karaoke, especially his favorite old country songs. But the joy of his life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Vernon Franklin Fuller, Sr. and Thelma White Fuller, first wife Sonya Sue Fuller, brother Gene Fuller and half-sisters Betty Packwyn and Sylvia. He is survived by his wife Patricia Marjorie Fuller of Cushing, Texas, along with her daughter Tammy Scott who spent countless days by Bud’s bedside, sister-in-law Marion Clark; Also, Patricia’s son Michael Wayne Scott and his fiancé Paula Watson. Bud also leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters Rhonda Thee Muratori, Sheila Burleson, and Susan Creger and Billy Stephanelli, half-sister Kristie Sestina Thomas, and nephew Jack; Norm and Cindy were like brother and sister to him; grandchildren Desiree Marie, Michael James, Franklin, Taylor, Lisa, Tyler, Klyie, Timothy, and Daisy; and great grandchild Amaya.
Pallbearers: Michael Wayne Scott, Timothy Scott, Billy Stephanelli, Franklin Burleson, Taylor Burleson, Norm Cowger, and Lee Boggs.
