Ruby McCoy Obituary

Ruby Lee Pierce McCoy, 90, of Beach City, was born in Cushing, Texas on May 30, 1931, to Lillie Mae Birdwell Pierce and Sam Pierce and went to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, June 17, 2021.

She graduated from Cedar Bayou High School in 1948 and attended Lee College earning an Associate in Arts degree, The University of Houston and Prairie View A&M University earning a bachelor’s and master’s degrees respectively in education.

She married Wilton Perry McCoy of Pelly, and that union was born two children. She was a schoolteacher for twenty-one years and retired in June of 1990. Following her retirement, she joined the Lee College Faculty teaching GED and Continuing Education classes for several years.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to foreign countries including Egypt, Morocco, France, Portugal, Spain, England, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, Italy, Germany, and several other countries.

In her later years she became extremely interested in the Royal Family of Great Britain and could easily recite the line of succession in the Royal Family.

Her greatest accomplishment was her unique ability to bring a book to life and make reading enjoyable to her many students over the years.

Ruby was a member of the St. John’s Methodist Church, Texas Retired Teacher’s Association, Eastern Star Crosby Chapter No. 21, and Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority.

She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilton of 38 years, sister, Zella Ruth Price and grandson, Kelly Lee McCoy. She leaves to rejoice in her memory sons, James Perry and Alice McCoy of Livingston, and Gary Lee and Brenda McCoy of Mount Enterprise. Grandchildren and great grandchildren are Brent Daniel and Melissa McCoy with daughter Avery Leigh of Livingston; Brian Perry and Lorie McCoy with children Alena, Daphne Garcia, and Lennon of Old River; Alyssa Breanne and husband Mahmoud Kosyaem with daughter Mila Rose of Dubai; Victoria Leanne McCoy of Highlands; Meghan Elizabeth and husband Justin Smith with daughter Peyton Kelly of Houston.

She is also survived by her loving niece Jody and husband Robbie Roberts of Baytown along with many other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Salazar, Justin Smith, Robbie Roberts, Justin Glover, with alternate being Travis Bryan.

Services will be held Monday, June 21st at Isabel Chapel in Mount Enterprise at 10:30 am – graveside to follow. Interment will be under the direction of Dickie Allen Funeral Home, Cushing, Texas, 75760
