Private family memorial services for Delbert Ray Miller, 66, of Alto are pending. Mr. Miller passed away Tuesday, October 5, in Tyler. He was born July 17, 1955 in Roswell, New Mexico to Ronald Miller and Betty Vancleave Miller. Ray had lived in Alto for 4 years and had also lived for many years in Alamogordo, New Mexico and 11 years in Lufkin. Ray was Baptist and was a member of the Alto Lions Club. He was retired from the Holloman High Speed Test Track where he had served as a sheet metal technician and later as Supervisor of the Mechanical Drafting Department. He was instrumental in constructing the rocket sled that has held the land speed record since 2003. Ray enjoyed carpentry and taxidermy. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Dwayne Miller. Ray is survived by wife Jackie Miller, sons Joshua Ray Miller and wife Tammy and Matthew Luke Miller both of Perry, Florida, daughter Amanda Rose Stroud of Wichita Falls, brother Eddie, sisters Carolyn, Pam, Patsy, Debbie and Charlene, sister-in-law Ida Bell and grandchildren Dakota, Caleb, Makayla, James, Sean, Hannah, Gabe, Alycia, Michael and Anthony.
