Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service. Mary Lou Burnett returned to her Heavenly home to be with her parents and husband Tuesday in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mary Lou Burnett was born March 5, 1946 in Jacksonville, Texas to Emory Clifton and Adell Brooks Clifton. She was "jack of all trades" and if you knew her it was "her way or the wrong way." Mary Lou was firm yet kind. She was faithful to her duties as a board member of McKnight Cemetery Association maintaining the cemetery and marking graves. On a single day she marked up to four grave plots! She was a member of the Church of Christ church in Cushing. She was active in her community volunteering with the Fire Department. She helped run things for the Opry in Sacul every month. She was so active in giving so much to any and everyone. She was committed to the communities around her. In fact, she was known as the unofficial mayor of Sacul. She quilted with her crew of friends and fellow quilters as an active member of the Sacul Quilters. She was known for being "wide open." Mary Lou also enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and husband Perry Burnett. She will be mourned by her survivors which include her aunts Bobbie Pittman of Houston, Novis White of Sacul, cousins Joyce Mason and cousin Mike Pittman, and Jean Pirtle; and, by many other cousins. Mary Lou will be missed by all of her loved ones and friends that were dear to her heart from Sacul to Cushing. All over East Texas will be missing her warm loving heart and her gentle ways. She was a blessing to everyone she came into contact with.
Pallbearers include Mike Pitman, Steve Pitman, Joe Brooks, Randy Brooks, David Stafford, and Philip Ferguson.
