Mary Bess (Caldwell) Banks

Mary Bess (Caldwell) Banks, 94 passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022. Mrs. Banks was born on August 9, 1927 in Jonesboro, LA to David E. and Gladys (Hardy) Caldwell. She lived in Lufkin, Texas where she met and married her husband, Joe Frank Banks of Cushing, Tx on November 14, 1954. They eventually moved to Houston, Tx where they were longtime residents and raised their two daughters, Mary Jo (Banks) Penny and Karen (Banks) Treybig.
Mrs. Banks was a retired scheduler in the maintenance department of the Houston Independent School District. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church North Channel where she served and supported various ministries in the church.
Mrs. Banks is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Frank Banks, daughter, Mary Jo Penny, brother, Joel (Otto) Caldwell, sister Sarah Margaret Wells, brother, Robert L. Caldwell and sister, Virginia Campbell. Also, her parents D. E. and Gladys Caldwell.
Mrs. Banks is survived by her daughter, Karen Treybig and son-in-law, Mike Treybig. Also, son-in-law, Jim Penny (wife Susan), grandchildren, Rachel E (Penny) Roberson (husband Joe), James M. Penny (wife Sarah) and Jason Penny (wife Mitsuki), great grandchildren, Evangeline Penny, James Joseph Penny and Riley Kai Penny. Also, nieces and nephews, Carol Sue, David, John, Glen, Jeff and Robyn, and other family, extended family and friends.
In a private moment with family, Mrs. Banks was buried next to her husband in Cushing, TX in the Cushing City Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date. The family of Mrs. Banks acknowledges Allen Funeral Services, Inc. for their helpful and respectful handling of the burial arrangements.
