Memorial services for Lynette Grimes Goodner, 86, of Winona and formerly of Douglass will be Saturday, January 10th, at 2 PM at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Chapel in Alto. Lynette, a devoted educator, beloved mother & grandmother, and pillar of her community, passed away on November 18, 2025. Her life was defined by the love she had for her family, and an unwavering dedication to teaching. Even at the time of her passing, Lynette was still in the classroom—continuing a remarkable career that spanned more than 50 years. Lynette leaves behind her granddaughter, Tonya Boozer of Tyler, Texas, who will forever hold the lessons, love, and strength she shared so freely. She is also survived by special friends that she considered family; Maurice Batte, Charles Carpenter, Kathy Demarais, Laddie Hochstetler, Ann-Marie Marsh, Little Curt Marsh, Glenda Randall, Kim Stradley, Toni Turner, lifelong friend Billie Marie Walters and many other friends. Lynette was preceded in death by the joy of her heart her son, Billy Wayne Boozer, whose memory she cherished every day. She was also preceded by her husband, Billy W. Goodner, as well as her parents Vergie and Charlie Grimes, and brothers Coy Grimes, Charles Grimes (wife Verble), and Fred Grimes (wife Inez). Though she endured great loss, she carried a deep and abiding love for her family throughout her life. Her legacy is one of compassion, dedication, and quiet perseverance. She will be remembered not only for the countless lives she touched in the classroom, but also for the love she poured into her family.
