Linda Darnell (Britt) McCormack

Linda Darnell Britt McCormack passed from our world peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025. Linda was born August 18, 1945 in Marlin Texas to Robert Marvin and Alice Almede Chane Britt.

Linda married the love of her life and soulmate Max M. McCormack, Sr. on August 28, 1965 at the Marlin Baptist Church, Marlin, Texas. They lived their life together in Cushing. They shared three children, Max Jr., Jennifer Lynn, and Laurel Leigh. They were married for sixty beautiful years filled with much love, laughter, and joy of life.

Linda was a 1963 Graduate of Marlin High School. While raising a young family and before on-line classes, she completed her degree in three years, earning a B.S. Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in May 1975. She was a proud American and Texan.

Linda was an educator for thirty- four years, thirty-one years as the First-Grade teacher at Cushing Elementary School Cushing, Texas.  Outside the love of her family, being an educator was what she truly took pride in accomplishing. She taught many students the “Old School 3Rs”. She loved her profession and would talk for hours about her students and education.

Linda, affectionately known as “Mo”, loved to cook big meals for family, reading romance novels, loved art, flowers-especially day lilies, azaleas and roses, the color yellow and being an American in which she passed her patriotic fervor to her students. She was a true believer in Christ Jesus.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Ann Britt. She is survived by her husband, Max, Sr., son and daughter-in-law Max Jr, and Jennifer Pyle McCormack. Daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer and Michael Ubanoski, and Laurel Leigh and Jim Plunk. Sister-in-law Suzy and husband and Dillard Tinsley, PhD.

Serving as pall bearers are her grandsons Guy Robert McCormack, Creager Davis, Skyler Plunk, Keegan Ubanoski, Isaac Plunk, Collin Plunk, LCpl, USMC. Her granddaughters Sarah McCormack Davis and Haley Plunk will read a special passage and scripture.

Visitation will be held Friday May 23, 2025, 5:00- 7:00 PM at Allen Funeral Home. Services will be held at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel Saturday May 24, 2025, 10:00 AM, Brother Ed Willamson, officiating. She will be laid to rest at Lynn Flatt Cemetery Nacogdoches County, Texas. A reception will be held at Trawick Presbyterian Church hosted by the Methodist Women of Cushing FUMC.
