Lela Montez Williamson (“Maw Maw”), 88
Lela Montez Williamson, lovingly known as “Maw Maw,” passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at 10:34 p.m., surrounded by her family. She went to be with her Heavenly Father and best friend, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lela is under the care of Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:00 A.M., at McKnight Cemetery, with Brother Ed Williamson Officiating. Visitation will be held graveside at Mcknight Cemetery, one hour prior to the service, from 9:00-10:00 A.M.
Lela’s faith and relationship with Christ were the foundation of her life. She was known as a rock within her community because of her unwavering walk with the Lord and was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church for more decades than most of us have been alive.
Throughout her life, Lela served her community in many ways. She worked for many years at Gay’s Product Lawn Furniture. She continued her heart for service at her family-owned Restaurant Cedar Tree Inn, where she was loved by all who knew her. She continued her life serving as Activity Director at the local Nursing Home.
It would be an understatement to say the family and community lost a blessing — we lost a legacy. Yet we were privileged to share in the gift of her life.
When people spoke of “Maw Maw,” they often described her as a sweet, innocent little lady. But behind that gentle spirit was a fierce and strong woman, shown through the courage and determination she carried until her final breath. Many also remember her for her “world-famous cinnamon rolls,” a treasured tradition lovingly passed down — especially to her son Ed — ensuring those sweet memories will continue for generations.
We close with saying this “Maw Maw” was a pillar in her community and a rock in her family. She will be greatly missed; we will shed tears and mourn her passing. So, for now let’s celebrate her life and rejoice in knowing she is hugging our Father “Jesus Christ.”
