Larry Dual Self

Larry Self, 80, of Douglass, Texas, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, with his family by his side.  Arrangements are under the care of Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas. Graveside Services will be held at Blackjack Cemetery in Lilbert, Texas, on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 PM.  

Larry Dual Self was born on November 27, 1944, in Nacogdoches County, to Mathew Dual Self and Flossie Faye (Armstrong) Self.

Larry had four siblings:  brothers, Gordon and Roger, and sisters, Billie and Faye.

He married Linda Jo Matlock, and together they had 3 children, Wayne, Matthew, and Lisa. 

Larry is preceded in death by his son, Wayne Self; parents, Mathew and Flossie Self; brother, Gordon Merel Self; sisters, Faye McKnight and Billie Reedy.

Larry is survived by his wife Linda Jo (Matlock) Self; son, Matthew Self, daughter, Lisa Clifton and her husband William; grandchild, Shelby Thompson and her husband Tye and great grandchildren, Audrey and Eden; grandchild, Emily Self and her husband Hunter Grier, and great grandchild, Gracie; grandchild Derek Clifton and his wife Rachel and her daughter, Lexie; grandchild, Olivia Clifton; brother, Roger Self and his wife Pam.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Westward Trails Nursing and Rehabilitation, the caregivers at Harbor Hospice, and all the family and friends, who visited.  Thank you for your kind words, actions and the care you showed to Larry and his family.
