Funeral services for LaJuan Rice, 65, of Lake Striker, Texas will be Monday January 14th,2018 at 11am at the O.T. Allen and Son Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday January 13th from 6-8pm at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to services on Monday. Mrs. LaJuan Rice died Friday January 11th in Tyler, Texas. She was born January 7th, 1954 in Jacksonville, Texas to Paul Weldon and Joe Ann Martin. She lived in Lake Striker for 9 years and Arlington, Texas for many years before that. She was Baptist by faith. She was a college and high school teacher for 40 years. The bulk of which was as math teacher and then Assistant Principal at Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas. She was a passionate educator and devoted football fan. She loved the Cowboys and Antiquing. She won awards for teaching including Teacher of the Year and was the first Aware Award recipient for Exceptional Teaching in the Arlington School District. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Nip Rice of Lake Striker, TX; children Victoria Fisher of Charlotte, N.C, Chris Fisher (Latresa) of Jacksonville, TX, April Jinkins (Donell) of Nacogdoches, TX and Little Nip Rice (Melissa) of Kentucky; sister and brother-in-law Pam Findley (Larry) of Jacksonville,TX; grandchildren Jacie, Haiden, Finley, Lillian, Chris Jr., and Grayson
