LaJean Lloyd Obituary

LaJean Linthicum Lloyd, 84, of Timpson, Texas passed away July 19th, 2021 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born in Moon City to Tom Green and Erma Lee Linthicum on October 2nd, 1936. She grew up in Sacul and attended school there until the 8th grade. She played basketball and was proud to be a Sacul Indian. She graduated from Cushing High School in 1954. She was a cheerleader one year for the Bearkats. She married Ray Lloyd on February 12th, 1955. She worked as a telephone operator in Houston for a short time. The family moved from Houston to Longview where she provided everything that was needed to make a wonderful home. She took the kids to church from the time they were born. She was always a hard fast worker. She went to work with the kids in school  to help make ends meet, took care of the children, did all the house work, provided great meals, never complained. She worked at the Army ammunition plant in Karnack for a while where she made button bombs. She didn’t brag but she was proud she could do fast work with her hands and do a great job. Her supervisor would take her with him where ever he needed good help. She later worked at Nibco at Nacogdoches. During that time she was one of the first women allowed to work on the assembly line. She said at first the men didn’t act like they wanted women working there but after they saw how fast and good she was they liked her and appreciated her help. She was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church in the Blair Community. She was a kind soul and loved by everyone she would meet.
