Kathryn Beavers Obituary

A private family memorial service for Kathryn Ann Beavers, 83, of Cushing, will be held later. Kathryn passed away Thursday, June 23, in Rusk, Texas. She was born February 8, 1939 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Clarence Fay Heard and Mary Kathryn Sears Heard. Kathryn has lived in the Nacogdoches County area for the last 37 years. She was Baptist and had worked many years as a caregiver. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry Verble “Pete” Beavers, son John Edmond Dalton, stepson Dennis Verble Beavers, sister Margie McGee and brother Jim Heard. Kathryn is survived by daughters Carolyn Sioux Stripling and husband Jeff of Douglass and Debbie Armstrong of Arkansas, sister Libby Bassham of Richardson, step sons Sammy Beavers and Darrell Beavers of Nacogdoches, grandchildren Lindsey Jordan, Logan Stripling, Emma Stripling, Hannah Sioux Stripling, Gina Earnest, Amber Offett, Kevin Dalton, Beth Dalton, Paula Hughes, Kelly McGrew and Tim Eichler as well as 16 great grandchildren.

Kaki (to her grandkids Kaddy) was a very loving and caring woman. She would go out of her way to help everyone and anyone that needed help. She loved to sew, crochet, cook, write poems and she was one of the best caregivers around. She was a fighter, and to say the least, she fought to the very end. She loved her grandkids so much, they were her world, and when she got sick and couldn’t do for them anymore it broke her heart. She had a wild side also. Her sisters and niece could close down the bars dancing. All the younger guys loved to dance with her. Her niece Tammy would get so mad, in her words “it was humiliating”. Tammy was cute, but Kaki was so charismatic that Tammy would not stand a chance. Kaki was for sure the life of everything she did. Her nephew Jim said one time that Kaki was where he learned to cuss, because she had a mouth like a sailor. These are just a few of the memories we have of her. (Carolyn)
