Johnny Arldrage Tobias Sr.

Kennard – A graveside funeral service for Johnny Tobias Sr., 78, of Kennard will be Thursday, May 15, at the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto, at 10 AM with life long friend and brother in Christ Danny Bowman officiating. The family will receive visitors  beginning at 9:30 AM at the cemetery.  Johnny Arldrage Tobias Sr. went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, May 12, 2025. Johnny was born to Harvey Clifton and Helen Elizabeth Tobias on May 4, 1947 in Alto, Texas. He lived most of his younger life in Diboll before joining the Army in November 1964, where he served honorably for 3 years. Johnny worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1970-1988, retiring as a locomotive engineer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially playing country music at various VFW halls around East Texas. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mack Tobias Jr., Clifton Wayne Tobias and Ben Tobias and sisters Patricia Faye Jenkins and Elizabeth Ann Perry.

                       Johnny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vivian Tobias of Kennard, son Johnny Tobias Jr. and wife Paula of Pollok, daughter Shannon Ham and husband Nathan of Lovelady, sisters Darlene Stone of Rockwall and Annell Johnson of Rowlett and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be made to Traditions Health Hospice Care, 600 E. Loop 304, Crockett, Texas 75835 who gave him excellent care for 2 years, especially his loving nurse Tiche Johnson.
