Joe Hipp was called home to be with his Savior on February 1, 2021. He was born April 3, 1941 to Benjamin “Bud” and Maggie Mae Hipp. He was a Vietnam Veteran, a carpenter by trade, and hunter by choice. He was known as “Dad”, “Joe” and “PaPaw Joe.”
He is survived by his best friend, helpmate, roller-skating partner, hunting buddy, and wife of 42 years, Lucille Uptigrove Hipp; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Tully Burns, sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Melissa Duncan and Jess and Carrie Duncan; six grandkids: Austin Burns and wife Megan, Megan Duncan Vargas and husband Osman, Dallas Burns Martin and husband Brett, Tate Duncan, and fiancé Kristin, Cade Duncan, and Melody Duncan; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Bo Hipp and wife Marilyn, Pat Hipp and wife Annette, and Billy Hipp and wife Elaine; and, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He loved his family and the outdoors. For Joe, there were only two seasons during the year: hunting season and getting ready for hunting season.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters Herb Hipp, J.W. Hipp, Marilyn Sides, Doris Ballard, Madeline Fricke, Helen Denson, and Fred Hipp.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Project, St. Jude’s Hospital, or Cushing Church of Christ.
A private funeral service will be held for immediate family members.
