James Dwight Partin

James Dwight Partin, 95, of Nacogdoches, Texas died on October 3, 2022, at the side of  his daughter, Jeanie Gresham. Dwight was born on April 18, 1927, to the late O. C. Partin and Eunice Brimer Partin.  He was blessed with a 70-year marriage to the late Terry Partin. Dwight is survived by his sister Janet Caver of Lufkin, Texas; son James Ray Partin and daughter-in-law Patricia of Fredricksburg, Texas; daughter Gloria Jean Gresham and son-in-law Larry Gresham of Nacogdoches, Texas; daughter Nina and son-in-law Bill Godsey of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Right after he graduated from Cushing High School, he enlisted in the Navy in World War II where he served as a seaman first class on the USS Topeka in the Pacific. Dwight owned his family business, Clyde Partin Monument Company, Inc., until his son-in-law bought it in 1989. After retirement, his wife Terry would pack his lunch along with two wieners for Buster the dog. James would spend countless hours tending his garden, working the cows, and bailing hay. His community involvement included the Cushing Lion’s Club, Cushing Band Boosters, Cushing School Board, and he was a member of the Cushing Masonic Lodge #911. He was a member of the Cushing Church of Christ and later Stallings Drive Church of Christ. He loved music and led singing at church, traveled to many Ray Price concerts, and used his computer to listen to music for hours. He lived his last three years at Meadowview Place, an assisted living center in Nacogdoches, Texas; he loved playing Bingo, and eating with his friends. He was lovingly cared for by the administrators and staff of Meadowview Place.
