A family memorial service for Helen Joyce Buckaloo, 84, of Cushing will be 2 pm Sunday, August 1, 2021 at New Faith Church in Sacul; burial service will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nacogdoches. Helen Joyce Buckaloo passed away July 19, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. Helen Joyce Buckaloo was born March 31, 1937 in Cushing, Texas to F. A. Wallace and Maggie Bell. She lived in Houston for twenty-three years and returned home to Cushing to raise her family. She worked in the cafeteria at the school where she retired. Her cooking was not limited to the school district. She enjoyed feeding everyone was famous for her chicken and dumplings. She was devoted member of New Faith Church in Sacul where devoted much of her talents and her time. Helen was kind and she was outspoken. She loved the outdoors and especially fishing and gardening; she paid special attention to her roses. Her passion was collecting Angels and had a house full of them. Helen loved her wiener dogs, but her affections centered around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Helen Joyce Buckaloo lived in Cushing for forty-three years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Ray Buckaloo, son Gary Buckaloo, infant grandson Logan Jones, and son-in-law Bubba Purtle. She is survived by her daughter Janet Lee Buckaloo of Cushing, son Gregory and wife Tammy Buckaloo of Cold Springs, grandchildren Maggie and husband Robert Martin, James and wife Kim Purtle, John Barkley Buckaloo, Amber Essery, Cody Whitten, Heather Whitten; great grandchildren Montana Jones, Caitlyn Purtle, Brylee Essery, Kristen Purtle, Emma Essery, Kynlee Martin, Carson Laney, John Laney, and Seth Purtle. Helen made her mark in this world and will be profoundly missed by all that knew and loved her.
