Goldie Mae Hamilton

 Funeral services for Goldie Mae Hamilton, 84, of Alto will be Saturday, August 17, at 1 PM, in the New Hope Baptist Church in Alto with Rev. Bill Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery near Alto. Mrs. Hamilton passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 in Rusk, Texas. She was born October 1, 1939 in Alto, Texas to Coneal Hamilton and Essie Watson Hamilton. Goldie lived all her life in Alto and was a member of the St. Thomas Baptist Church. She had worked at many area Nursing Homes and for Alto ISD as well. Goldie enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Teal Hamilton and sisters Jessie Zachary, Arma Lee Thacker, Roxie Richards and Alzata Glen. Goldie is survived by son Elvin Hamilton and wife Pamela, daughters Rosie Mathews and JoAnn Hamilton, sisters Bertha Pope, Alberta Pope and husband Jack, Lonnie Ross, Helen Dickerson, Kathleen Booker and Verdie Moore, grandchildren Chrishon Scott, Quincy Hamilton, Casey Hamilton, Rotisha Blanton, Arlando Hamilton and Quandre Rasberry as well as 19 great grandchildren. There will be a visitation/wake Friday, August 16, at the funeral home in Alto from 5-8 PM.
