Elizabeth Bates, also known as “nene”, “Libby”, and “snooks”, passed away on September 1, 2024, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 75. A Memorial Service for Elizabeth will be held on Thursday, September 19th, 2024 at 5:30 PM, at the Landmark Baptist Church in Cushing, Texas, with Brother David Snelson Officiating.
Born on March 18, 1949, in Nacogdoches, Texas, she lived a life marked by warmth and a spirited personality that profoundly touched all who knew her.
Libby was a loving, caring, hardworking, and independent woman who loved her family. She was witty and determined. She will be remembered for her vibrance and spirit. Elizabeth Bates was a friend, sister, mother, and grandmother. Even in death she will remain an important person in all our lives.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her Husband, Willie Earl Bates; Parents, William Thomas and Florence Marie Patrick Butcher; Siblings, William Earl Butcher, Dale Lynn Butcher, Lawrence Van Butcher; Grandparents, Lester Earl Patrick, Elizabeth Curtis Patrick, William Franklin Butcher, and Clyde Lucinda Bass Butcher.
She is survived by her children, Monica Willis, Eddie Herrick and Ragan Bates; Siblings, Opal Mae Moore and spouse Raymond, Ricky Lynn Butcher and spouse Alma, Anita Mae Fortson, Lester Thomas Butcher and spouse Mary; Grandkids, Emory Ugartechea, Brailey Stover, Isaiah Herrick, Justice Herrick; and many Nieces and Nephews.
