Edward James Spears

Funeral services for Edward James Spears, 69, of Cushing, will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Dickie Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Williams officiating.  Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation service from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2022 at the funeral home. Edward James Spears passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 7, 2022. Edward was born in Zwolle, Louisiana on January 18, 1953 to Edward and Dorothy Spears. He lived life to the fullest. Edward enjoyed visiting with family, coon hunting, fishing, camping, and pretty much anything having to do with the outdoors. He was loved by anyone who met him. Even on his worst day, he would conjur up that big beautiful smile of his. Edward met the love of his life on January 27, 1996. He and Connie had a love like no other. Connie changed his life for the better and was with him until the end. Edward loved his church family, but most of all he loved God. If he were here today, Edward would tell you that the best decision he ever made was accepting and loving God. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Edward Carl Spears, his mother, Dorothy Ida Spears, sister, Thelma Louise Ebarb, brother-in-law, Danny Durant Sr., and nephew, Danny "Bubba" Durant Jr.  Edward is survived by his wife Connie Thompson Spears of Cushing, Texas, sisters Carlie May "Agnes" Durant of Cushing, Texas, Lois Spears of Converse, Louisiana; brothers Francis Leroy "Blue" Spears and wife Kathy of Hemphill, Texas, Henry Spears of Cushing, Texas, and Roger and wife Carolyn Spears of Hemphill, Texas. Edward also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard Evans, John Smith, Dalton Colle, Austin Colle, Brady Bush, and Kattie Durant.

Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Goldsberry, Shanna Whitton, Breann Bush, Kat Brookshire, and Jennifer Phillips.
