Douglas MacArthur Smith

A small private memorial service for Douglas MacArthur Smith, 79, of Houston will be held graveside at the Shiloh Cemetery in Alto, TX on a date to be determined soon. Doug passed away Wednesday, December 22nd, in Houston. He was born February 13, 1942, in Alto, TX to John Smith and Bertha Cannon Smith. Doug lived in Houston for the last 31 years after living in Alto and Rosenberg for many years. He was a graduate of Stephen F Austin High School in Houston, TX, Class of 1960 where he was known as “Mack”. He joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged due to his bad knees, but he remained a proud veteran. Doug worked at Delta Airlines for about 6 years and then became an independent contractor building and remodeling homes for the last 45+ years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy McDaniel and Ann Ola French, brother John Bill Smith and grandson Kyle Denum. Doug is survived by his wife Judi Judd, sister Mary Grace Allen of Nacogdoches, daughter and son-in-law Rachel & Scott Behuniak of Tampa, FL, sons and daughters-in-law John & Donna Smith of Houston and Spencer & Christi Smith of Alto, and his grandchildren Maggie, Peyton, Taylor, Paige, Landry, Skylar, Sarah, Sullivan and his great grandson Hudson Kyle.
