Dolven Curtis Simmons

Dolven Curtis Simmons, 74, of Alto passed away February 28, 2022 in Rusk, Texas. He was born July 12, 1947 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to Dolven Simmons and Retha Mae Cooley Simmons. Mr. Simmons lived most of his life in Alto and was a Christian. He was a log cutter and enjoyed playing guitar and writing songs. He also enjoyed “horse trading”, gardening and driving a tractor and his dogs. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by son Dolven Curtis “D.C.” Simmons Jr., wife D.J. Simmons, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by daughters Tina Glover and husband Mark of Wells and Colleen Fitts and husband Kevin of Rusk, son Colt Simmons and wife Lindsey of Hudson, brothers Colvin Simmons of Vidor, Cedrick Cooley of Lufkin, Joe Cooley of Buna, sisters Peaches Carter of Wells, Mary Baugh of Nacogdoches and Kellie Cooley of Pineland, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. There will be a visitation Saturday, March 5th at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home from 2 - 4 PM. No service will be held.
