Dolly Sanders Obituary

Dolly Marie Sanders (Hankie) 98 of Cushing,Texas Passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Visitation will be Monday April 10th from 6-8 p.m. at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing,Texas. Services will be Tuesday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Dickie Allen Funeral Home with Jan Rhodes and Stefani Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at McKnight Cemetery.

Hankie was born to Lee and Nicie Wade on November 12,1924 in Cushing,Texas. Hankie was a lifelong member of the McKnight Congregational Methodist church and community.She married Marvin Fredrick Sanders on August 3rd, 1945, in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Hankie was a lifelong homemaker and what a home she did make! Her house was always full of food, fun, love and laughter. She was also known as the Cushing Librarian who welcomed book lovers of all ages. Hankie loved to sing and her family loved to hear her sing! She was the matriarch to a huge family that extended for miles and miles around. 

Hankie is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Nicie Wade, husband Marvin Sanders, and daughter Gaye Smelley. She is survived by her son Dennis Sanders and Brenda of Cushing,Texas, daughter Sandra Elsberry and Buz of Cushing,Texas, son Sandy Sanders and Kathy of Cushing,Texas, son in law, Buck Smelley of Cushing,Texas, special dog Puddin,  grandchildren Terry and Susanne Smelley, Stefani and Charley Jackson, Denise and Teddy Davis, Jenifer and Justin Wade, Joseph and Holly Sanders, Coy Sanders, Stacy And Randy Matuza, Chris and Bria Elsberry, 18 great grandchildren and 10 great,great grandchildren, and many,many, friends.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Terry Smelley, Charley Jackson, Teddy Davis, Justin Wade, Joseph Sanders, Coy Sanders, Randy Matuza,and Chris Elsberry.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Great Grandsons, Wade Minter, Keith Minter, Cullin Davis, James Handley, Taylor Garza Quinton Brandon, Hayden Sanders, Hudson Sanders, Maverick Jackson, Jacob Smelley, Brayan Valencia, Rylan Matuza, and Clayton Whitaker
