Darvis Cleveland Obituary

Funeral services for Darvis Wade Cleveland, 82, of Longview, will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 25, 2022 at Dickie Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the visitation service from 1:00 PM Friday prior to the funeral service. Darvis Wade Cleveland passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 in Longview, Texas with his family present. Darvis Wade Cleveland was born November 6, 1940 to James Littleton Cleveland and Gertha Lee Wade in Cushing, Texas. Darvis was drafted into the Army in 1962 where he received his training as a machinist. Darvis married Betty Carolyn Harris on March 12, 1965 and upon his discharge of service, Darvis and his wife Betty moved to Longview, Texas where he worked as a machinist for LeTourneau Inc. Darvis settled in Panola County outside of Beckville, Texas and began working for Texas Utilities Mining Co. After an extensive career with TUMCO, Darvis left and became a CDL driver for 5 years often taking him to areas where he could visit with his children and extended family. After traveling the lower 48 states, Mexico and Canada, Darvis had seen enough and settled once again with LeTourneau Inc. retiring at the age of 72.
Darvis was a faithful follower of Christ and he made his home at Beckville United Methodist where he attended regularly. He enjoyed sharing his faith and offering his gifts and service whenever he could. Darvis truly loved the Lord and spoke about how his parents “Jim” and “Gertie” were influential in his faith by raising him in the church and witnessing his parents faithful service. “I love Jesus because he loved me first.” Darvis loved all his family. He loved to tell stories about growing up with his cousins and all their adventures growing up in Nacogdoches county. Darvis was a family oriented man who came to be a big part of his nieces and nephews lives affectionately being called “Uncle Dob”. Darvis would find any reason to get together and be surrounded with family. Building fences, hauling hay, working around the house, or visiting the sick all were reasons for Darvis to get together have a meal with family and practice his humor. Upon his retirement, Darvis replaced his job with his family with the same hard work ethic in any way that was needed. Darvis is preceded in death by his father James(Jim) Littleton Cleveland, mother Gertha Lee Wade, sister Dollie Ruth Cleveland, brother James Ray Cleveland, sister Zelda Pearl Birdwell, brother Gerald Lavon Cleveland, and sister Doris Nadine Garrett. Darvis is survived by his wife Betty Harris Cleveland of Beckville, Texas. Children Lorne Cleveland and his wife Hali of Tyler, Matthew Cleveland and his wife Kristi of Manchaca, Michele Pollock and her husband Tommy of Longview and Nathan Cleveland and his wife Ashley of Beckville. Brother Wayne Allen Cleveland of Hutto,Texas. Grandchildren include Brian Seth Cleveland, Hannah Paige Cleveland, Olivia Grace Britt, Addisen Alina Pollock, Connor Lee Pollock, Ryan Lorne Cleveland, Bethany Kay Cleveland, Dustin Matthew Cleveland, Elisa Shei Shebli and Samuel Owen Cleveland. 

Pallbearers will be Michael Scott, Lane Sullivan, Michael Triana, James Herrin, Justin Wright, and Ryan Cleveland.
