Clifton Bell Hughes went to be with the lord on August 2, 2023 while surrounded by family at home in Rusk, Texas. He was 97. Clifton was born on May 1,1926 in Angleton, Texas to Mr. Robert Hughes and Clara M. Grace. Clifton accepted Christ at an early age. Clifton attended Marshall High in Angleton, Texas. After graduation, Clifton began working for Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. Shortly after he received the call to be drafted into the United States Navy in 1945. While serving in the Navy, Cliff was honorably discharged. Clifton worked with National Maritime Union as a chief electrician for 29 years where he retired in 1993. Clifton’s spare time involved the love for his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He spent quality time riding Harleys with his late father Robert. He was also a member of a biker club, whom he spent much time cruising the highways with. To cherish his memories Clifton leaves behind the love of his life Yvonne, his only daughter Christine Elizabeth Walker, and his sister Grace Ross Ford. The family would like to thank Hospice of East Texas for their wonderful care of Clifton during his transition.
Service will be held at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX 77038 on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.
