Cherlyn Ann Whitaker

Miss Cherlyn Ann Whitaker, age 65, passed away on July 6, 2023 in Longview, TX.  Visitation will be held July 11, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, TX, with Pastor Toby Self of Big Rock Gospel Church officiating.  Interment will follow in the Redland Cemetery, Lilbert, Texas.  

Cherlyn was born August 10, 1957 to Sherman Ray and Jo Ann Whitaker. Cherlyn attended Pine Tree School in Longview, TX. She worked in sales for many years in the East Texas area.  She loved talking with people.  Cherlyn was also an avid Houston Astros fan and could tell you the rituals of many of the hitters as they came up to bat. Cherlyn also enjoyed fishing and camping with her friends, and it did not matter if they caught anything or not.  It was the fellowship of being with friends and out in nature. Cherlyn loved to read the bible and devotional on a daily basis.

Cherlyn is preceded in death by Sherman Ray Whitaker and James Ray Whitaker.  Cherlyn is survived by Jo Ann Whitaker, Kevin and Christy Whitaker, James N. Whitaker, Katie D. Whitaker, and many cousins and close friends.

Pallbearers will be James N. Whitaker, Mark Whitaker, Charles Whitaker, Clint Whitaker, Vince Luna, and Skyler Weathermon.

The family of Cherlyn Whitaker wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her close friends and neighbors for all their help.  We also extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of M. D. Anderson Hospital.
