Charles Hightower Obituary

Charles David "Charlie" Hightower died peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022. He was 82 and the beloved husband of the late Clara (Clauder) Hightower.

Born December 29, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas he was one of twelve children of the late Flurier and Archie (Miller) Hightower.

Charles married Clara Hightower in Houston, Texas and together they raised two sons and a daughter. In 1989 Charles retired from a career in the HVAC industry. He and Clara then relocated from Houston back to East Texas in the mid 1980's settling in Nat, Texas. Together, they built and lovingly maintained a farm and raised cattle. Charlie, a Mason and Shriner, loved fishing, ranching and all the outdoors.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Susan Hightower of Cypress; Curtis and Melissa Hightower of Crosby; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Roland Portscheller of Houston, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Walker, Carrie Clegg and Mary Whitley, brother-in-law Kenneth Pinner, all of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in law, Jim Hightower of Lufkin, Delwin and Linda Hightower of Central Heights, Bobby Dan and Monica Hightower of Lufkin, and Windle and Donna Hightower of Huntington; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife Clara Hightower; brothers Robert Wayne Hightower, Oscar Hightower; sisters Manda Reynolds and Betty Pinner.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a graveside service Wednesday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. at the Nat Cemetery, located at the intersection of Farm Road 343 with County Roads 839 and 849, between Red Flat and Looneyville, approximately 15 miles northwest of Nacogdoches.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Charles Hightower to

the Nat Cemetery Association or the Shriners Hospital for Children at shrinershospitalforchildren.org or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
