Funeral services for Charlene Baxter, 86, of Sacul will be 2 PM Sunday at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Mrs. Baxter passed away Thursday, April 29, in Sacul. She was born February 12, 1935 in Cushing, Texas to Bert Lee and Ludie Williams Wade. Charlene had lived in Houston for several years and had lived in Looneyville and Sacul for the last 50 years. She was a Christian and had worked as a store owner and operator of Baxter Grocery for about 13 years in the Looneyville community. She had also worked at the Rusk State Hospital as a unit supervisor and as a private caregiver. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sandra Kay Hogan and grand-son-in-law Brandon Medley. She is survived by sons Richard Baxter of Cushing and Larry Baxter of Cushing, grandchildren Tommy Baxter, Brittany Martin, Chase Baxter, Jayme Medley, David Baxter and Jeffery Baxter and great grandchildren Ethan, Ashton, Mackenzie, Molly, Damien, Jaxson and Macie. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Donnie Williams, Cecil Petty, Don Savoy, Jerry Nash, Frank Torres and Cody Allen. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons. The family wants to thank Charlene’s friends and neighbors for all their help and kind gestures during her time of illness as well as a special thanks to Harbour Hospice.
