Cale Griffin Barrios, 16, of Cushing, Texas, passed away on August 7th, 2023 in Corrigan, Texas.
Visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at Timber Creek Church in Nacogdoches, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at Timber Creek Church in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Dan Chanowski of Timber Creek Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Dickie Allen Funeral Home. The family has requested that attendees not wear black, as he has said “black is weird at funerals and way too sad.” His favorite colors were blue, purple, and shades of coral and pink.
Cale was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Todd and Sheree Barrios on January 30th, 2007. He went to school at Cushing High School. He was involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA, Cushing Varsity baseball and basketball, Timber Creek Church media team and Timber Creek Youth Nacogdoches. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and cracking up with his friends: Coats, Belyeu, Crumpton, Willis, and Jackie. He received recognition in the National Honor Society, awards for Academic Excellence, Second team All-District infield during his freshman year and Second team All-District catcher his sophomore year.
Cale is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and grandmother, Delbert and Loretta Griffin, and his aunt, Sharona Griffin Jurek. Cale is survived by his parents, Todd and Sheree Barrios; brother, Caden Barrios; sister, Camryn Barrios Herring and brother-in-law, Hunter Herring,
niece, Paisley Herring; girlfriend, Bailee Ford; paternal grandparents, Louis and Sissy Barrios; paternal uncles and aunts: Louis and Anne Marie Barrios, Chris and Darlene Barrios, Keith and Tiffany Barrios; maternal uncle, Troy Jurek; and cousins: Evan, Megan, Henry, Olivia; Leigh and Daniel; Brett; Brad; Blake and Celina; Brooke, Jason, Jasper; Sophia; Gabrielle; Emily, Mila, Hayze; Abby and Evangeline.
Pallbearers will be Caden Coats, Gavin Crumpton, Kaden Willis, Hayden Belyeu, Jackie Lawrence, and Kimrey Nash.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Caden Barrios, Hunter Herring, Jeremy Tamez, Jacob Smelley, Rashaud Johnson, Alex BeCraft, Cole Muske, Cade Breedlove, Brian Parker, Edroin and Jay Foreman.
The family of Cale wishes in lieu of flowers and food, donations be made to Timber Creek Youth, so that every child gets a chance to experience the love of Jesus Christ at church camp.
