Bobby “Rabbit” Joe Wallace, 82, of Lilbert, passed away on January 12, 2024, in the community of
Wallace Grove.
A celebration of life will be held 6pm – 8pm Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Dickie Allen Funeral home
in Cushing, TX..
Bobby Joe Wallace was born November 12, 1941, to Floy Wallace and Claude Jordan in a logging camp in
Shelby County near Patroon, TX. He went to elementary school in Lilbert and secondary thru high school
in Cushing. He attended Jacksonville Babtist College for 2 years. After marrying and starting a family
Bobby went to work for Texas Power and Light in September 1962 where he worked for 30 years as a
lineman, etc. upon retiring in 1992. During that time, Bobby raised children, cut hay, raced motorcycles,
raced cars, and loved to dance at the dance halls. It was always said he could dance like Elvis. In his later
years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, riding his tractor, and mowing
his lawn, very short. He loved Jesus, his friends, and his community. He enjoyed Willie Nelson and moon
pies.
Bobby Wallace is preceded in death by his wife Iva Lee Davis Wallace, stepdaughter Rhonda Gustafson,
sister Hazel Mullins, sister Martha Ann Hartless, and sister Betty Simpson.
Bobby Wallace is survived by Stuart Vanshoubrouk and wife Paula of Nacogdoches, TX, Joseph
Vanshoubrouk of Cushing, TX, Krissy Wallace of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kent Dudley and wife Sheri of
Midlothian, TX. Brother Floyd “Jr” Wallace of Mixon, TX. Grandchildren Nicole Vanshoubrouek, Bailey
Naples, Craig Hargrove, Marshall Dudley, Zack Gustafson, and Abby Kerska. Great Grandchildren Bryce,
Braden, Hannah, Emma, Preston, Rhodes, Silas, Nolan, Nora, Rhonda, and Gus. And many nieces,
nephews and cousins.
The family of Bobby Wallace wished to extend our sincere thanks to the Nacogdoches Medical Center
and their staff, Hospice In the Pines and their staff, and Dickie Allen Funeral Home and their staff.
