Betty Nichols Obituary

Betty May Nichols, 89, of Cushing, Texas passed away in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born March 27, 1932 on Flowery Mountain to Wesley and Gertrude Baker. Betty spent most of her childhood on Flowery Mountain and attended Nat and Cushing schools. Betty married the love of her life, Odell Nichols on January 21, 1949. They resided in Cushing where they were blessed with daughters, Ann, Shelia, and Barbara. Betty and Odell spent their lives living in the country, sharing their love of gardening, and taking their grandchildren on road trips throughout the country any chance they could.

Mrs. Betty May was a strong woman of faith who helped others trust in the Lord, and she was a prayer warrior for her community. Her love lit up the room. She was a bright light to everyone she met, and she was a pillar of strength for her friends and family. A hug from Mrs. Betty May could turn your day around - she was a wonderful and genuine woman adored by her family, friends, and church community, and she will be deeply missed by so many. Mrs. Betty May enjoyed and valued the simple things in her life. She loved feeding the birds, cooking for friends and family, serving as a member in the Big Rock Gospel Church, and watching her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandson grow. Her home was a welcome place for all who needed love, wisdom, and a warm meal.

Mrs. Betty May was preceded in death by her husband Odell Nichols and her daughters Ann Dobbs and Barbara Luke. She is survived by her daughter Shelia Sparks and husband Jimmy Sparks of Nacogdoches, TX, her sister Sandra Ford and husband Bobby Ford of DeSoto, TX, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great-great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. All who loved her dearly.
