Funeral services for Ben J. Gallant, 86, of Douglass, Texas will be held Sunday March 22nd, 2020 at 2pm at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas with Pastor Bill Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Douglass Cemetery.
Mr. Gallant was a resident of Douglass, Texas since 2002. He was born in Falls River, Massachusetts to Benoit and Agnes (Cavanaugh) Gallant on December 2nd, 1933. He then moved with his family to New York City, prior to his move to Channelview, Texas after serving for six years in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Gallant served honorably during the Korean War. Mr. Gallant began his illustrious career as a crane operator for Sheffield Steel prior to owning several industrial chemical companies, dental companies and finally as CEO for American Medical Technology. After retirement, Mr. Gallant enjoyed his time ranching and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Belle Gallant, his son John (Laurie) Gallant, grandsons Brett and Lance Gallant all of Douglass, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Theresa Young, Anna Caccavale, Agnes Symbouras, and Rita Thayer. Pallbearers will be John Arrington, Tony Arrington, Craig Bell, Justin Bell, Hayden Stauffacher, and Shane Smelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Parker, Dr. Tom Middlebrook, Wayne Brown, Neal Lowery, Robert McGrath, Harvel Vaught, and Wayne Boozier. The family would like to extend special thanks to our friends and the staff of Westward Trails Nursing Home for their love and support. The family will welcome friends and loved ones Saturday March 21st from 6-8pm at the funeral home. If so desired, contributions can be made in Ben’s memory to Kings Highway Country Church in Douglass, Texas.
