Barbara Jean (Wood) Robinson

Barbara Jean Wood-Robinson, 72, of Cushing, Texas, passed away at her residence in Cushing, TX, on Sunday, April 28,2024.  Barbara is under the care of Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, TX.  A Memorial Service for her will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Landmark Baptist Church in Cushing, TX, with Pastor David Snelson Officiating. 

Barbara Jean Wood was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on September 20, 1951, to Melborn & Dorothy (Walton) Wood.  Barbara, along with her two other siblings, Tina and Lary, attended school in Garland, Texas.  While traveling through Maryville, Louisiana Barbara met a man named Johnnie Goodloe Robinson, who would come to be her husband of 50 years.  Johnnie took Barbara back to Texas with him and not long after, were married in Liberty, Texas.  Together they had two children, a daughter, Tera Jean and a son, Johnnie Jr.  

Johnnie and Barbara lived in Liberty, TX, Derider, LA, Lake Charles, LA, Celeste, TX, Greenville, TX, before finally settling in Cushing, TX. 

While in Lake Charles, Barbara graduated from McNeese University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.  She worked for Hunt Memorial Hospital in the postpartum and labor and delivery unit in Greenville, TX as a Registered Nurse, for 29 years. Barbara loved her job and especially enjoyed working with the newborn babies.  Johnnie and Barbara loved to travel the country in their RV and visit family and friends along the way. Barbara was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Cushing, TX and volunteered at the food pantry. She loved gardening and everyone close to her knew her favorite flower was a rose.  In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting blankets, hats, and scarves.  She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and especially her beloved dogs. 

Barbara will be dearly missed by her family, friends, as well as her four-legged companions.

Barbara is preceded in death by her Parents, Melborn & Dorothy Wood, Daughter, Tera Jean Robinson, and Sister, Tina Wisman.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Johnnie Goodloe Robinson of Cushing, TX, Son, Johnnie Jr. Robinson, and wife Theresa, of Celeste, TX, Brother, Lary Wood and Wife, Aimee, of Celeste, TX.

The family of Barbara would like to welcome those who knew and loved her, to come to Landmark Baptist Church in Cushing, on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. for a Celebration of Barbara’s life, to remember her and share their memories of her.  There will be a luncheon following the service.
