Obituary

Funeral services for Wilma Jean Wells, 76, of Alto will be Saturday, November 21, at 1PM at the New Hope Baptist Church in Alto with Rev. Herman Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Wells died Tuesday in Jacksonville. She was born April 8, 1944 in Cherokee County to Ike Tyler and Ada Jones Tyler. Wilma lived all her life in Alto and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She had worked for many years as a cook for the Kountry Kettle Restaurant in Alto and also worked many years at the Peacock Basket factory in Jacksonville. Wilma loved listening to gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie Wells, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and a grandson. She is survived by daughters Leesha Hogg of Alto, Stephanie Tyler of Alto and Wilma Mumphrey (Ronterreal) of Alto, sons Gary Wells of Alto, Ivory Wells (Julie) of Alto and Clarence Wells of Houston, sisters Louise Tyler of Jacksonville, Ginnie V. Tyler of Jacksonville and Jewel Miles of Alto, 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. There will be a viewing Friday at the funeral home in Alto from 1-6 PM.
