A memorial service for William Thomas "Bill" Warner, 86, of Alto will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 3 PM at the A Frank Smith United Methodist Church in Alto with Rev. John Black officiating. Mr. Warner died Monday, December 17 in Alto. He was born August 30, 1932 in Grapeland, Texas to Luther Warner and Mary Elizabeth Stuckey Warner. Mr. Warner move to Alto in 1964 and owned and operated Boyd's Pharmacy for over 50 years. He later donated the downtown pharmacy building to the City of Alto to house the Stella Hill Memorial Library. He was a graduate of the University of Houston Pharmacy School and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Warner served on the Alto School Board for 12 years. He was a longtime member of the A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church and the Downtown Bible Class and was also a member of the Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his son Carl Warner, his parents, 3 sisters, and a brother. Mr. Warner is survived by his wife Marjorie Warner of Alto, daughters and sons-in-law Martha Elbert (Fred) of Durango, Colorado and Mary Brown (Mike) of Austin, grandchildren Guy Elbert, Gus Elbert, Alec Brown and Rafe Brown as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. The Downtown Bible Class and the men from Miss Mollie's roundtable will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 2 PM Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Stella Hill Library or the A. Frank Smith Methodist Church.
