A memorial service for William Ray Cook of Elkhart, Texas will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 2 p.m. at O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home in Alto, Texas, with Rev. Barney Walker and Rev. Hugh Mixon officiating. Burial will follow at Old Palestine Cemetery. Mr. Cook passed from this life on June 28, 2016. He was born May 30, 1928 in Alto, Texas to the late William F. and Francis Brown Cook. In 1949 Ray met and married Jacky Morris, they remained in Alto while Ray served with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War, their first child was born while Ray was deployed. Upon discharge Ray brought his family back to Alto where he worked at the International Harvester dealership until the late 1950''s when he and Jacky moved to Houston where he continued his career as a diesel engine mechanic with International Harvester and later J. B. Hunt. After retirement Ray and Jacky moved back to east Texas, choosing Elkhart as their home. Ray is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jacky Morris Cook. Two daughters, Lu Taylor and Kimberly Minter, and his son-in-law, Lee Taylor. Four grandchildren, Michael Taylor (Courtney); Scott Taylor (Meridith), Stephanie Cook and Brenda Phillips. Five great-grandchildren, Madison & Hudson Taylor, Colton & Easton Taylor and Haley Phillips. A host of extended family and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his son William D. (Bill) Cook.
