Memorial services for Sherrill L. Montgomery, 71, of Alto, will be held Thursday, August 19, at 10 AM in the Alto Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Sherrill passed away Monday in Alto. He was born September 17, 1949 in Alto, Texas to Horace "Pat" Montgomery and Grace Castillo Montgomery. Sherrill lived most of his life in Alto and had also lived in Nacogdoches. He was a member of the Alto Missionary Baptist Church and had worked as a welder for many years. Sherrill enjoyed horseback riding. He was preceded in death by wife Darlene, brother Charles Montgomery and sister Charlotte Knott. Sherrill is survived by wife Charlotte Hollis Montgomery of Alto, daughter Cheryl Lynn Montgomery of Nacogdoches, and sons Anthony Montgomery of Wells and Ritchie Hester of Alto.
