Funeral services for Sandra Elaine Smelley will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing. There will be a visitation for family and friends Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Sandra passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 surrounded by her family. Sandra Elaine Arrington was born May 6, 1951 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Alma and Teeter Arrington. She met her husband-to-be, Cecil "Pete", at the Cushing Dairy Creme and married him June 25, 1969. In August of 1969 they purchased their first and forever home together. Sandra began working in 1972 and continued working for 50 years until her ailment prevented her in 2020. Sandra dedicated her life to caring for nursing home residents. They were "her people" and she was a strong advocate for patients' and family rights. She loved each and every one of them with her whole heart. Her objective was to bring them happiness and a smile to their faces each day. She threw thousands of birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and called countless games of bingo. She was a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, and an ear to listen.  She was preceded in death by son Carlton Ray Smelley, her parents Alma and Teeter Arrington, sisters Annie Ruth and Barbara, brothers Billy John, her twin Sammy, and an infant brother Carlton. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Cecil R. "Pete" Smelley of Cushing, Texas, son Shane Smelley and husband Omar of Cushing, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Officiating services will be Shane Smelley and Tuff Randall

Pallbearers will be Lance, Josh, Jake, Carlton, James, and Alex.
