Alto - funeral services for Samuel B. Johnson Jr, 63, of Alto will be Saturday, March 19th, at 1 PM at the Weeping Mary Baptist Church near Alto with Rev. Vernon Austin officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery in Alto. Mr. Johnson died Saturday in Lufkin. He was born November 5th, 1952 in Lufkin, Texas to Samuel B. Johnson Sr and Lucille Braggs Johnson. Mr. Johnson grew up in Lufkin and spent the last 38 years in Alto. He was Baptist and had retired from Lufkin Industries where he had worked as a crane operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and a sister. Samuel was survived by wife Marga Johnson of Alto, daughters, Gia Shepard (Derrick) of Rusk, Shamonica Johnson of Alto and Shemeka Johnson of Alto, Brothers Vernon Austin (Nell) of Lufkin, Clifton Johnson of Lufkin, Preston Johnson (Luvirie) of Lufkin, Leroy Johnson (Tiffany) of Alto and Michael Johnson of Lufkin, sisters Chenelle Watson of Houston and Evelyn Johnson of Houston, grandchildren Chandra, Trakena, Derrick Jr., Keenen, Ki'Alo, Sha'Rayah and great grandchildren, Trentin and Demaree. Visitation will be Friday, the 18th, at the Allen Funeral Home in Alto fro 6-8 PM.
