Mr. Sturgill died Friday in Nacogdoches. He was born August 16th, 1947 in Wellsville, Ohio, to Robert D. Sturgill and Marie Stafford Sturgill. Mr. Sturgill grew up in Ohio and had lived in Nacogdoches for the last 12 years. "Pops" was a carpenter and a mechanic who loved playing guitar and harmonic, and being "the Dad he didn't have to be." He was preceded in death by sister, Carol Kirk and brothers, Bill, Ed and Flem Sturgill. He is survived by his close companion, his dog Baby, sons Dale Sturgill (Lucy) of Spring and David Richarson(Dora) of Florida and daughters Marie Briggs and Melanie Allen of Nacogdochges, sister June McCardle of Florida, grandchildren Megan, Ashley, Amanda and Crystal, great grandchildren Kylie, Bailey, Nyome and James.
