Obituary

Richard Lynn Dees passed away March 11, 2025 in Cushing, Texas, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Richard is under the care of Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing.   Graveside Services will be on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Sandhill / Isabell Chapel Cemetery, in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, with Pastor Bill Shaw Officiating.

Richard was born in Wolfe City, Texas to Douglas and Zella Lee (Weeks) Dees. He quit school in the 9th grade to go to work.  He had many jobs in his lifetime, such as Oil Exploration, Truck Driver (long haul), House Builder and Logger.  Richard was Self-Employed in most of the jobs he had. He was a hard worker, a fast learner and accomplished his goals no matter what type of work he did.

His main passion in life was being a Private Pilot, his second treasure in life was finding Melba, his wife of 18 years!

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Melba (Matlock) Dees; parents, Douglas and Zella Dees; sister Betty Dees.

Richard is survived by his son Raybert Dees and wife Ludie; 3 stepsons, Alan Matlock and wife Patricia, Todd Matlock and wife Paige, Kelly Matlock and wife Patti; 2 grandchildren, Callis Dees, and Crystal Donnyel Hartman; 13 great grandchildren, Kyla Moran, Skye Greer, Emily Svehla, Harlie Dees, Elizabeth Hartman, Callie Dees Laynie Dees, Journey Dees, Jaxson Hartman, Braelyn Willoughby, Rori Dees Silas Dees, Angus Dees; 8 step grandchildren, Lindsey Matlock, Conner Goode, Macee Matlock Moore, Ashlynn Matlock, Victoria Matlock, Michael Strong; 3 step great grandchildren, Aleia Owens, Rykelyn Marroquin, Case Goode.  2 great- great grandchildren, Remington and Ada May Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family of Richard would like to give special recognition and thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice staff and nurses, and very special thanks to Ashlyn & Martha, for the genuine care and kindness that was shown to Richard and his family.
