Obituary

Randall Aldridge Birdsong passed from this life Tuesday evening, January 19, 2016 in East Texas Medical Center in Tyler at the age of 66 after fighting a long and courageous battle with numerous health issues. Randall was born in Galveston, Texas July 14, 1949 to Ena Lillian Aldridge and Robert Jackson Birdsong, the second of three children. After graduating from LaMarque High School, Randall secured employment with Union Carbide in Texas City, Texas to become certified by The United States Department of Labor as a journeyman electrician. It was during that time that he met his future wife Verlene Duplichain, both blessed with two sons, Adam and David. After ten years of employment with Union Carbide, Randall and Verlene moved to Henderson, Texas where he was employed as an electrician at a local power plant, later moving to Alto where he gained employment with a local newspaper before securing employment with Pearman Chevrolet later to serve as Pastor of Ponta Baptist Church, for over twenty years. Left a widower, Randall was blessed with the second love of his life, Sue Zane Robinson. Randall considered East Texas his home, where he spent most of his life and developed many a friendship. Randall served as a member of the Alto School Board, loved sports, and announced the local football games from the Alto press box. Randall was charming, gracious, and full of life. He loved to talk, preach, and sing. Randall lived a very joyous life as a husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandpa, whose words of wisdom, memories of joy, and helping spirit, will forever be in the hearts of all the family members who loved him. Randall knew the Lord Jesus as his Lord at an early age and is now home with Him in the place called heaven. Randall is survived by his wife Sue Zane Birdsong, his son David Birdsong and wife Amy, and two brothers: Stuart Clifford Birdsong and wife Nancy, and James Earl Birdsong. Also his other children Wade Robinson and wife Debbie, Boyd Robinson and wife Rhonda, daughters he never had Anita Blankenship and husband James, and Stephanie Jones and husband Danny. Grandchildren: Noah Massey, Hayden Massey, and Aaron, Mary, Lee, Luke, Kimberly, Wil, Lance, Chelsey, Shelbi, Kailey, Dakota and 4 great grandchildren.
