Paul N. McMillan 91, formerly of Reklaw, Texas passed away on May 22nd after a brief illness. He resided in Luling, Texas the past four years. He was born December 19th, 1924 in Carmona, Texas to Douglas H. and Lela McCormack McMillan. His family moved to the Reklaw area when he was a young boy, and he attended school in Rusk. He married Dorothy Jo Bowling of Reklaw in 1943. Paul served in the United States Navy during World War 11 and was stationed in Texas at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station as an aircraft structural maintenance and repair technician petty officer. Settling in Corpus Christi after the war, he became a master plumber and electrician, and in 1963, moved to Victoria as a construction contractor. In 1974, Paul returned to Reklaw, going to work for Texas Power and Light at the plant on Striker Lake, from which he retired in 1989 He was a very talented plumber, electrician mechanic and carpenter, often spending his spare time installing, building or modifying whatever was required to get a job done for himself, as well as friends and neighbors. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to putter in a small garden with his berry vines and fig trees. He was involved in the Boy Scout organization and served as a Baptist deacon for many years. He was member of the McNeil Baptist Church in Luling. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law Paula and Homer Horne of Luling; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Denise McMillan of Kilgore; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Janell McMillan, of Henderson; sister-in-law Laura Beth Rice of Normangee; four grandchildren, Christi Horne Of Luling, Rusty Horne and wife Amy of Luling, Brandy McMillan Brannon and husband Jason of Kilgore, and Wendy McMillan Robuck and husband Chris of Diboll; four great grandchildren, Austin Horne, Grant Horne, Dylan Richardson and Zoey Robuck; and multiple nieces and nephews, as well as a host of dear friends. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Jo McMillan, and Sisters Gwendolyn McMillan Bunn and Doris McMillan Tate. The family is deeply grateful for the dedicated care provided by Heart to Heart Hospice, Caring Senior Service and their father''s caregivers, Tina, Candace and Robin. Family visitation will be held at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing on Thursday, May 26, at 1:30 pm. A graveside service will immediately follow at Walkers Chapel Cemetery in Reklaw at 3:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Jerry Walles. Donations may be made to Walkers Chapel Cemetery P.O.
