For Patsy, singing wasn't simply something she enjoyed—it was a part of who she was.
Patsy Ruth Wallace Fitzgerald, 93, of Cushing, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on 10/07/26, surrounded by the love of her family.
Arrangements are under the care of Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10 A.M. at Pirtle Cemetery in Cushing, with Brother Bubba Sanders Officiating.
Patsy was born on February 18, 1933, to F.A. Wallace and Maggie Bell Wallace in Gold Mine Hollar, Texas. She was the second oldest of nine siblings and attended school in Cushing, Texas.
On December 26, 1952, Patsy married the love of her life, John Calvin Fitzgerald. Together they shared more than 73 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, hard work, faith, and love. Their life together was filled with many adventures, memories, and the kind of love that comes from growing old together.
Her love was shown not only in the big moments, but in the everyday things—the time she spent with her family, the work she put into her home and garden.
Patsy's faith was one of the most important parts of her life. She loved going to church and singing, and music was a passion she carried throughout the years. She played the guitar, sang, and was a talented singer and songwriter. Her love of music eventually led her to serve others through her faith, and she preached and pastored several churches throughout her life.
For Patsy, singing wasn't simply something she enjoyed—it was a part of who she was. Whether she was singing at church, playing her guitar, or sharing a song she had written, music was one of the ways she connected with the people around her.
Patsy was also no stranger to hard work. She was a farmer, a mother, and a grandmother who loved taking care of her family and her home. She especially enjoyed raising a garden and taking care of her cows.
Patsy had a love for adventure. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.. She made memories wherever she went, always finding another place to explore and another story to bring home.
More than anything, Patsy loved her family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who leaves behind generations of people who were blessed to know her and call her family. Her love was shown not only in the big moments, but in the everyday things—the time she spent with her family, the work she put into her home and garden, the songs she sang, and the faith she shared with others.
Patsy is survived by her loving family, her children, Ronald Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald, Patsy Wood, and Tina Lucky; daughter in laws Coye Smith and Cindy Fitzgerald, son in law Gregory Lucky and Gary Wood, sister in laws Jackie Fitzgerald Thornton and Shirley Fatheree; Brother in law Dan Weatherly; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Calvin Fitzgerald, her parents, F.A. Wallace and Maggie Bell Wallace, grandsons, Gregory Colt Lucky and Michael Jasun Fitzgerald. Along with members of her family who went before her.
Patsy will be remembered for her strong faith, her beautiful voice, her love of music, her hardworking spirit, and the love she had for her family. She leaves behind more than 93 years of memories—memories that will be shared around family tables, in stories told by her children and grandchildren, and in the songs that will always remind them of her.
