Funeral services for Opal Ragon Cotten, 94, of Nacogdoches will be Tuesday, August 16th at 2pm at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home chapel in Cushing officiated by Rev. John Bingham. Visitation will be 1-2pm on Tuesday. Opal Ragon Cotten passed away on August 11th, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches. She was born October 18th, 1921 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to George and Gertrude Ragon. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Dodd College for Women in 1939. She married Leon Cotten Sr. in 1942, a marriage that lasted 50 years until his death in 1992. Following WWII, she and Leon settled in Lake Jackson, Texas. They retired to Nacogdoches County in 1976. She was a long time member of the First Methodist Church of Nacogdoches and a member of the Open Door Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca Cotten May. She is survived by three children: Dr. Leon Cotten, Jr., Carolyn Cotten Turley, and Jim G. Cotten
