Cushing- Funeral services for Myrtle Cleo Smith, 92, of Huntsville and formerly of Cushing will be Saturday August 5th at 11am at the Landmark Baptist Church in Cushing. Graveside at Linn Flat to follow weather permitting. There is no visitation scheduled. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday in Huntsville. She was born March 31st, 1925 in Alco, Louisiana to John and Myrtle Carl Parker. Mrs. Smith grew up in Louisiana and played basketball in high school. She later moved to Houston after graduating high school. She and her husband retired to Cushing. She loved gardening and her bird feeders, she was a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader and a softball coach. She ran the Senior Center in Cushing for many years and was awarded the "Citizen of the Year" award in Cushing. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis James Smith Sr., Son Francis James Smith, Jr., 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. She is survived by daughter Bonnie Barker of Huntsville, Texas; son-in-law David Barker of Huntsville, Texas; niece Margaret Gilmore Moore of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Brent Barker and Wife Stacy of Austin, Texas and Emmy Barker of Los Angeles, California; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
