A visitation/memorial service for Michael B, Carter, 66, of Alto will be Wednesday, January 12, from 6-8 PM at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Chapel in Alto. Michael passed away  Saturday, January 8, in Alto. He was born November 8, 1955 in El Paso, Texas to Barton and Harriett Carter. Michael had lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and been in Alto for about 20 years. He was Baptist and had worked several years as a dispatcher for the Cherokee County Sheriff's department. Michael was an elder in the Tsalagiyi Nvdagi (Cherokee of Texas) tribe. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Evelyn and Herdis Bice. He is survived by his wife Sharon Carter of Alto, parents Barton and Harriett Carter of Tulsa, Ok., daughters Jennifer Forest (Michael) of Ponta, Samantha Sanders (Josh) of Weatherford, sons Jake Carter (Jlynne) of San Angelo and Brent Lawrence (Jessica) of Bryan, sisters Gloria Haggerty of Diamond, Ohio, Sandy Brown (R.L.) of Tulsa Ok. And Kathy Lewis (Jerry) of Rusk, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
