Cushing- Funeral services for Melva Joyce Self, 84, of Cushing will be Sunday at 3pm at the Dickie Allen funeral home chapel with Bro. Sonny Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Self died Thursday in Conroe. She was born August 14th 1932 in Cushing, Texas to Mark Albert and Buna Vaught Furra. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Thomas Albert Self, and Brother Marcus Autry Furra. She is survived by her Son and Daughter-in-law Thomas, Jr. and Theresa Self of Nacogdoches, Tx; Daughters and Sons-in-law Evelyn Christine and O.G. Lanning of New Waverly, Tx and Dorothy Jean Self and Wally of The Woodlands, Tx; Brother Jesse Wayne Furra of Cushing, Tx; Grandchildren Roger and Diane Castleberry, Cindy and Mike Evans, Tina and Shane Vanderberg, Christopher Lanning, and Thomas Self III; Great Grandchildren Christian, Casey, Tyler, Austin, Kasey, Courtney, Westin, Adam, and Curtis; and Great Great Grandchildren Caiden, Carter, and Taylor. Pallbearers will be: Mike Evans, Curtis Jackson, Christopher Lanning, Shane Vanderberg, Christian Castleberry, and Casey Castleberry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Gresham and Thomas Self, III. There will be a visitation Saturday night from 6-8pm at the funeral home in Cushing.
