There will be a memorial service at a later date for Melinda Leigh McDaniel, 74, of Cushing, Texas and formerly of Texarkana, Texas. Melinda died Tuesday September 26th, 2023 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born February 28th, 1949 in Texarkana, Texas to Clarence and Odessa Marie Ames Akin. She was born and raised in Texarkana and moved to Cushing about four years ago. She loved painting and her 4 legged "kid" Axel. Her granddaughter said she also enjoyed lovingly bossing people around.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Alvin Lee McDaniel. She is survived by her sons Scott Wetz of Cushing, Texas, Kelly McDaniel (Austin) of Memphis, Tennesee, and Deral Wetz of Texarkana, Texas; brother Mike Akin of Texarkana, Texas; sister Diane Adcock of Texarkana, Texas; granddaughters Rylie (Austin) and Amy; 3 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
