A celebration of life service for Marion Dwain Lindsey, 76, of Alto will be held Friday, May 24, 2024At 11 AM in the River Church in Alto with Rev. Dusty Lee officiating. There will be a visitation time at the church from 10 AM until 11 AM. Burial will follow at the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto. Marion Dwain passed away Tuesday, May 21 at his home near Alto, after a heroic battle with lung cancer. Marion was born on July 31, 1947 in Jacksonville, Texas to Doyle and Erma Lee Brooks Lindsey. He graduated from Alto High School in 1966 and later enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. Marion loved working, farming, selling anything and everything, fishing, hunting, casinos and  talking and joking with friends and family. Marion is preceded in death by his grandparents Hilary and Lou Ellen Lindsey and Roy and Erma Brooks, his parents Doyle and Erma Lee Lindsey and granddaughter Hannah Collie. He is survived by his beautiful wife of almost 45 years Laura Lindsey, sons Andy Lindsey and Nathan Lindsey and daughter-in-law Regina, and  son Jason Collie and daughter-in-law  Amanda, granddaughters Hilary Lindsey, Morgan Roach and husband Jordan, and Jenna Lindsey, grandsons Cooper, Knox and Cason Collie, great grandsons Holden and Haze Roach, brother Billy Doyle Lindsey, sister Sara Lee McCarty and husband Steve as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Jamie May, Binky Johnson, Keith Lindsey, Billy Mason, Tommy Lynn Grogan and Bob Cherry. Honorary pallbearers are Steve McCarty, Tom Ball, James Campbell, Ty McCarty, Marshall Corley, Gary Dominy, Charles Dean Davis and Judge Chris Davis. Memorials may be made to the Michael E. DeBakey VA radiation department 2002 Holcombe Blvd. Houston, Texas or Heavens Stepping Stone retreat in honor of his granddaughter Hannah at PO Box 92 Alto, Texas 75925.
