Margie Gresham, 89, of Cushing, Texas, left this world and was embraced by her beloved husband in heaven on August 21, 2026. Margie Nell Williams was born on October 17th, 1936, to Lela Everitt Williams and Ennis Clifford “Buddy” Williams. She grew up in the McKnight Community, where she is a member of McKnight Congregational Methodist Church. In 1953, Margie married the love of her life, Billy Gresham. Together, they shared 69 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, hard work, laughter, and countless memories. Billy passed away in May 2022, leaving a space in Margie's heart that could never quite be filled. He lovingly called her his “Gal,” and after more than four years apart, she has finally found her way back into his arms.
Margie was a woman who loved deeply and loved fiercely. Her greatest joy was her family. She adored her three children, and that love only grew with every grandchild and great-grandchild who came along. She rarely missed a school event, sporting event, or special occasion, and she was always there cheering on her “babies.” Whether sitting in the stands, celebrating an accomplishment, or simply spending time together, Margie took immense pride in her family and made sure they always knew how much they were loved.
She was also fiercely independent and never one to sit still for long. Margie could often be found mowing and weed-eating her own lawn, refusing to let age tell her what she could or could not do. She was strong, determined, capable, and proud—and she did things her way. Her kitchen was the heart of her home. There was almost always something cooking, and Margie had a way of making sure no one ever left her house hungry. She could probably have fed the entire town with the food that came out of her kitchen, but her hot water cornbread, tortilla rollups and chocolate pie were among the specialties her family will never forget. For those who were lucky enough to sit around her table, her cooking was more than food—it was love. Margie leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and family.
She is survived by her children, Ricky Dale Gresham and wife, Belinda, of Cushing; Paula Lynn Gresham and Rick Mahan, of Arp; and Barbara Gresham Hunter, of Cushing; grandchildren, Ashley Engle and husband, G.W.; Nathan Gresham and wife, Kim; and Megan Driver and husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Mason Levings, Trace Engle, Easton Engle, Hadley Gresham, Caroline Gresham, Jordan Driver, and Bailey Driver. Her sister Joyce Hurt of Tyler. She will also be lovingly remembered by her “bonus” grandchildren, T.C. Gunter and Myla Moore.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Gresham; her parents, Lela and Buddy Williams; and her son-in-law Jacky Hunter.
Margie's family will miss her more than words can express. They will miss her voice, her strength, her stubborn determination, her cooking, her stories, and the way she loved each of them so completely. They will miss seeing her in the stands cheering them on, gathering around her kitchen table, and knowing that no matter what, Momma/Mimi was always there. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is no longer waiting for Billy. After 69 years of marriage and four years apart, Billy and his “Gal” are together again. And knowing Margie, she probably already has something cooking for him.
